About Us

The purpose of the Association of Rodeo Committees (ARC) is to support rodeo committees by growing & improving the sport of rodeo. We do that by providing networking opportunities that encourage the sharing of industry knowledge and avenues for committees to have a shared voice with rodeo’s sanctioning associations.

-----------------------------------

ARC was formed in 1979 when several leading Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctioned rodeo committees determined that they could improve their events by sharing information and presenting a unified position to the PRCA.

In 1986, ARC was instrumental in revising the entire sanctioning structure for the PRCA to provide a new, more equitable management system. Members joined together to shore-up a collapsing PRCA by negotiating a restructuring of the PRCA and gaining greater representation for the business elements of the sport—the rodeo committees and the stock contractors. ARC was also responsible for the creation of the position of Commissioner of the PRCA as well as outside business directors.

Today, more than 100 rodeo committees from across the United States and Canada are members of the non-profit member-based organization. ARC is still dedicated to the members’ common interest of producing successful rodeos through sharing of knowledge, experiences and contacts. The association was initially formed to develop a more positive relationship with the PRCA and has since expanded to partner with other rodeo sanctioning organizations including the Women's Professional Rodeo Association, International Pro Rodeo Association, World Champions Rodeo Alliance, National High School Rodeo Association & American Quarter Horse Association.

ARC is guided by the Board of Directors that represent rodeos from across the spectrum including large stock shows to the local community rodeos. The Board meets virtually throughout the year to stay up to date with rodeo news and to provide subcommittee updates on Outreach & Education, Membership, Grants & Funding and Bylaws. The ARC Board produces an annual conference, and it hosts a committee mixer during the PRCA Convention in Las Vegas.
